10 Things I Wish I Knew About DropFunnels Before I Started Building
Learning a new software can be intimidating & frustrating AF!
Let's be honest... learning a new software can make you feel like ripping your hair out...
Sometimes, it can feel as if you're learning an entire new language. It's like you've been speaking English your whole life and now you know the only way you know you can get to where you want to go is to learn Spanish or pay someone to speak for you.
Back in January of 2020, I got introduced to DropFunnels and was told it would be "The Marketing Platform of The Future"
"Bold Claim" I thought, but the person who referred me to the platform is an underground Godfather of the Internet Marketing space and one of the few souls I trust my life with about business.
I had my natural hesitations, but I could see the power in the platform. After years of contemplating (procrastinating) hiring a Website Developer to build a Home Page for myself, I could finally do it on my own in drag and drop fashion AND start that blog I had been yearning to create.
So in one quick swoop, I got started with DropFunnels and never looked back. After blitzing through the training I started re-building my existing funnels into DropFunnels and 24 hours later I was off to the races.
Now... while I do strongly believe this is THE best website / funnel building platform on the planet, it didn't come without it's fair share of learning pains.
That's why I've prepared this list for you...
Knowing these 10 Things would have dramatically sped up my learning curve and had me off to the races even faster.
So without further ado... let's dive in!
#1 - The Beginning Is The Hardest Part
I mean this in the most literal sense. Not the "everything is hard in the beginning sense".
95% of people want their custom domain set up as soon as they login.
To set up your Custom Domain on Dropfunnels, it requires updating domain records and getting a Cloudflare account.
If you're like me and not a fan of nerdy Domain speak, thankfully the team at DropFunnels have step by step walkthrough guides to get your custom domain set up as easily as possible no matter where you bought your domain from.
Just don't expect it to be instant though, I've set up dozens of people with their DropFunnel accounts and I'd say it takes on average 24 hours for this process to be complete.
But once you do it, you never have to worry about it again.
And if you run into problems... just reach out to their world class support team (more on that in a bit...)
#2 - It's Actually 4 Builders In 1
DropFunnels isn't just a funnel builder like the name implies.
It's the complete package when it comes to creating any sort of website.
You can build Branded Home Pages, stylistic blogs, profitable sales funnels and beautifully designed membership sites all in one.
I know some people who have a custom built WordPress homepage, sales funnels with ClickFunnels and membership sites with Kajabi...
That's a lot of money and a lot of time learning 3 different platforms, not very efficient.
Why not bundle them all up in one and save a bunch of money & time?
#3 - Crazy Customization For Pricing Your Products
I was blown away with the number of different ways to custom price your own products on the platform.
You can do basic things like charge a one time fee, or set up recurring monthly payments of the same amount.
But you can also set up custom recurring monthly payments of different amounts.
For example, say you sell a $5,000 coaching package, you can make a custom payment plan where they pay $1,000 down, then $2,000 the following 2 months. (or whatever amount you desire)
You also have the ability to give Coupon Codes or if you're feeling really wild - give the customer the ability to name their own price.
Haven't seen that from "the other guys"...
#4 - Pop Ups Can Be a Bit Tricky (Until You Know How)
This threw me off a bit having built on ClickFunnels for years prior.
On ClickFunnels you simply click "Edit Pop Up" at the top of the page.
When I couldn't find the "Edit Pop Up" button, frustration began to mount and I started tugging at my hair a bit...
Once I figured out the mystery, I was quick to realize this new way was far superior.
See... on DropFunnels, you can essentially make ANYTHING a Pop Up. You're not limited to just Opt In Forms.
So what I do is I build out my Pop Up on a separate page from where the Pop Up is and Save it as a Template
And then on the page I want the Pop Up To appear, I simply click the "Modal Pop Up" module, make a button (or whatever I want them to click to open the pop up) and select my template and BOOM - custom pop up created.
Slightly different, but much better in terms of customization.
Yes... you can make a pop up literally whatever you want. Not too shabby.
#5 - World Class Customer Support
Stonehedge, The Great Pyramids... and DropFunnels Customer Support.
Some of the world's greatest mysteries in that I have no idea how they do it.
Whether you're creating a Support Ticket on the website or asking a question inside the DropFunnels Facebook Group - these guys are razor sharp and lightning quick at answering any question.
Watching the growth of the company since January, I've never seen a more attentive owner to his customer's care than Jordo Mederich.
Most owners outsource their Customer Support and Hire the right help. While Jordo has done this, it doesn't withhold him from getting in the trenches and answering questions himself.
I truly wonder how he does it as he's seemingly everywhere all at once and am blown away by his support and commitment to excellence.
A special shout out to him and Peter Connors for always answering my questions in record time. I often joke that they never sleep. Peter has confirmed this. (Joking, but not).
On a side note: Jordo and the team actively listen to their customers and cater the platform around their needs and wants, not his. They launch new features seemingly everyweek and are on a one way path to becoming the De Facto Marketing Platform on the internet.
At the time of this writing rumour has it Survey Funnels are coming and I can't wait 🙂
#6 - You Can "Copy/Paste" Literally ANYTHING
One of the BIGGEST headaches I ever had with ClickFunnels was having to re-create certain elements on websites over and over again.
For example, say I had a button I loved on Site A but wanted it on Site B.
I would either have to duplicate Site A and erase everything but the button and build out a website, or just rebuild the button on Site B.
With DropFunnels, you can save ANYTHING you make as a Template, and import it onto any other site with the click of a button.
Whether it's a button, order form, or an entire section/row of a website, just click the "Save As" button on the Website Builder and BOOM - you got yourselfs a new template.
You can also save it as a "Global Template" so any changes you make will be made wherever the element is found.
(I.e. I have the same button on 5 different pages, if I change the text on the button, the changes will be made on all the 5 pages as well automatically)
#7 - Pro Membership Is The Best Bang For Your Buck
While I have always been an advocate for this platform since I joined, one of the biggest frustrations myself and a lot of other marketers had was the ability to only have 1 domain on the account.
The only other option at the time was to purchase another DropFunnels account and keep everything separate if I wanted to work under a new domain.
I know this was a Major Sticking Point for a lot of people hesitant to "make the switch".
But, as I said before, Jordo listens to what the people want and then he delivers.
For the first 5 months or so there wasn't really a difference between the Pro & Basic Plans.
That's changed now though as you now get 5 Domains per Pro plan in addition to Live Chat Support.
The ability to have 5 Domains is reason enough to upgrade, and if you still need more you can get 10 with an Agency account.
#8 - One-Click Funnel Imports
"This all sounds great, but I don't want to have to re-create all my websites and funnels."
That was my biggest objection before making the switch.
But I'm a person who invests in my business, saw the potential this platform had and ultimately rolled up my sleeves and rebuilt all my previous funnels in about 2 days.
Thankfully, you don't have to do this as there's now a One-Click import feature if your existing funnel is built on ClickFunnels.
While it's not 100% perfect, it's pretty dang close and will save you an enormous amount of time.
Or you could hire out the DropFunnels team or myself to build you the website of your dreams...
Yes, they really have thought of everything.
#9 - SEO Activation
This is more so on me than DropFunnels, but figured if I had this problem others would as well.
I'm an SEO noob and thought I could just start building my website and funnels and I would rank in Google.
While that's the case NOW - I spent my first 2 months without ever activating SEO capabilities.
To do so, simply go to Settings, then Reading then uncheck the "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" box.
Congrats! Now your pages and funnels can now rank in Google.
#10 - The Price
There's a number of different options out there on the Interwebs.
You can pay for Hosting and build your own WordPress site but I never did cause it looked far too complicated...
Or you can roll with ClickFunnels and pay $99 / month and get next to no options or $299 / month and still not be able to build a Personal Website or Blog.
Kajabi is improving and has a sleek membership site builder but is very limited in it's overall customization power and has horrible analytics. Oh yeah, it's also $199 / month.
You can Get Started on a DropFunnels Pro Plan today for $149 / month and have that price locked in for life.
The Price of this platform WILL GO UP as it's far too valuable not to and Jordo's always made the promise to never raise the price of what you're paying. (I'm actually paying less than $149 / month because I started on the Beta)
So there you have it... 10 Things I Wish I Knew that should help you dramatically speed up your learning curve with DropFunnels.
If you're ready to start using the Best Website Building Experience on the planet and The Elite Marketer's choice in funnel software...
Any problems or questions you have along the way feel free to reach out to me or better yet the DropFunnels support staff.
Feel free to also check out my D-Funnels Accelerator Course as well to further speed up the learning process.
